Joining the Spa Lodge and Freemasonry

There are several ways to become a Freemason and join the Spa Lodge in particular.

If you know someone who is a member, they can help to introduce you to our organisation, and support you through the process of joining.

If you don’t know anyone who is a member that you can talk to, then your first step is to get in touch with us directly, and our Membership Officer, will get in touch to answer your questions, and identify a proposer and seconder to support you.

  • Stage 1.

    Register your Interest

    Either register your interest in joining Freemasonry and the Spa Lodge via the member who you know, or if you do not know a member, use the contact us form to let us know directly that you wish to know more, and to register your interest.

  • Stage 2.

    Meet and Understand

    You will be invited to meet with a small group of members to learn about our lodge, Freemasonry, and the obligations in joining us.

    You will also be invited to join us, along with any partner and/or any family members, to some of our social events to help them to get to know us too.

  • Stage 3.

    Complete your Application

    Having met with members and having all your questions asnwered, you can make your decision to join us, and we will help you complete the application process.

    Your application will be raised in lodge as a proposition, and your joining us will be approved through a ballot.

  • Stage 4.

    Joining (Initiation) Ceremony

    You will be initiated as we refer to it, into the Spa Lodge in accordance with our customs, as all Freemasons have been, after which, will will celebrate your joining at the post-ceremony Festive Board (celebratory meal).

  • Stage 5.

    Your Masonic Journey Starts...

    You will now be able to enjoy the full benefits of membership of one of the oldest social and charitable organisations in the world, a community of over 170,000 members throughout England and Wales, as well as Districts overseas.

    Many members choose to get directly involved in our ceremonies and progressing to become a ‘ruler’ in the lodge and craft, and this will be open to you too.

    Visiting is one of those joys of Freemasonry, attending other lodges, and building your greater social circle or friends and ‘brothers’.
