What does a Freemason look like?

It is hard to tell a Freemason in general when we are not in Regalia. We are ordinary people from from all backgrounds, from crafts-people like engineers, joiners, painters and decorators, to sales people, to business owners, to retired, to volunteers and everyone in between.

We could be in causal clothes, work clothes, or suits yet we all hold like-minded views on our role in supporting those in need both within and beyond Freemasonry, taking our work seriously but not ourselves, and seeking to improve ourselves as men.

About The Spa Lodge of Freemasons

The Spa Lodge meets at The Masonic Hall Station Avenue, Harrogate, HG1 5NE. Meetings are held in the evening on the third Wednesday of the month except August and September.

The Spa Lodge is fortunate in having a diverse membership of over forty members both young and mature from a wide range of occupations and a cross section of people from all walks of life who meet as equals. Our membership includes Servicemen, Musicians, Businessmen and many more.

We are proud of our hospitality and once our Masonic business is concluded we assemble in the bar for a drink and then sit down for a meal. To ensure our events are inclusive we don’t discuss religion or politics, preferring to concentrate on friendship and learning from each other’s experiences. This means we meet together, dine together and enjoy each other’s company and YOU too could join us. Ladies, partners and families are welcome to attend some social events so as to extend the hand of friendship to all.

Whether you are new to Freemasonry or looking to join a Lodge in Harrogate, you’ll find a particularly warm welcome at The Spa Lodge.

To help support the buildings and institution certain annual fees are required, similar to all masonic lodges. Further details can be obtained on application. Get in Touch here to start the process.

The name The Spa comes from Harrogate being a Spa town with spring water long believed to have special healing properties. The Spa Lodge is denoted by the number 7609 with its logo having three heraldic emblems representing medicinal springs or watering places. The Lodge is one of an approximate 200 in The Province of Yorkshire West Riding. The United Grand Lodge of England being the governing body of Freemasonry in England, Wales and the Channel Islands.

…having looked into it further, watched the TV series… …it cemented my view that Freemasonry in Harrogate was a good fit for me. Spa Lodge made me feel very welcome…
